Resumo
The European Seminar of the Schools of Social Work took place in Lisbon from 30 April to 2 of May 1995 and the main subject was "Human Rights and Social Work Training". The Seminar organisation was held by Schools that train Social Workers in Portugal, together with the European Association of the Schools of Social Work.
This Seminar joined the IFSW International Seminar and a simultaneous session was made.
The Seminar program intended to analyse the role of the Human Rights teaching in the present social worker's training programme in Europe, as well as to discuss about Human Rights issue facing the modern tendencies of European societies towards the perspective concerning the contemporary social policies. The relation between professional ethics and Human Rights was also debated.
It was also considered important that the discussion about Social Worker's training about this issue couldn't forget the sociabilization contexts and learning processes. As a matter of fact, the making of this kind of processionals requires that, in the school context itself, the development of structures and also practices in order to motivate the multiple participation in the school's life. It is important to create several and multiple learning occasions concerning the democratic debate, the learning of relationships with the "different others" and its implications concerning the collective management. The participation of all in the school's diary life is fundamental to assure the consciousness concerning the citizens rights.
At last, but not less important, it was intended to divulge investigations projects and promote the discussion about the evaluation of student's and teachers mobility learning from the knowledge which already exists in several other European Schools. Actually, this exchange has been stimulating the co-operation and development of investigations projects with visible results. This collaboration will increase not only the social workers capacity to influence the social policies, specially in the European Community process, but also it's impact caused on the Human Rights Issues. These objectives and concerns are expressed in the Seminar text program as well as in the workshops orientations.
